About Us
The Professional BusinessWomen of California is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the professional and personal development of women by providing tools, resources, training and inspiration.
The organization's mission is to meet the leadership, skill development, and network needs of professional businesswomen throughout their careers.
In the spring of 1988, the idea for a unique conference for professional and business women emerged - the result of another successful Women's Day for San Mateo County women.
Since 1980, the group, inspired and led by then Assemblywoman Jackie Speier, has sponsored the event for women entering or re-entering the job market. The overwhelming response to the event indicated that Bay Area career women desired a larger forum within which to become inspired to break through the glass ceiling and to more quickly reach economic parity with men.
In April of the following year, the Professional & BusinessWomen's Conference was incorporated as a non-profit organization. The board of directors evolved from initial membership of long-term volunteers from the public sector to its present composition of corporate executives, entrepreneurs and leaders from the non-profit and public sectors.
Our Annual Conference
The Professional BusinessWomen of California's annual San Francisco conference is the largest gathering of professional women in Northern California and is PBWC's main forum for women leaders to mentor and role model, foster upward career mobility and gain instant access to a large network of other professionals.
Hear local and national experts, including thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and financial experts share the latest strategies for career advancement, leadership, negotiation, communication, women's health, personal finance, entrepreneurship, and much more.
The conference also serves to ignite new thinking and offer alternative life-balance options, support diversity in the work place and allow companies a new channel for product marketing.
